Sinus and Nasal Disorder Diagnosis and Treatment

If you experience sinus headaches, nasal obstruction, nasal drainage, or loss of smell, you may have a sinus condition. Dr. Schleiffarth and Dr. Howard specialize in diagnosing and treating a wide range of sinus issues. They will conduct a thorough medical history review and physical examination, which may include the use of a nasal endoscope — a small, flexible telescope — to evaluate sinus drainage pathways. Following this assessment, they will develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

How Sinus and Nasal Disorders Are Diagnosed

During your visit, we will review your complete medical history and discuss any symptoms indicating a potential sinus or nasal issue. A specialist will perform a detailed head and neck examination and utilize a nasal endoscope to inspect the nasal cavity, sinuses, and larynx for any abnormalities.

This diagnostic process helps us identify visible signs of sinus disorders. Depending on your symptoms, additional diagnostic steps may include a biopsy of any unusual masses or a bacterial culture, if necessary. In some cases, a CT scan may be required for a more detailed evaluation of the sinuses.

Once we review your test results, we will outline the appropriate treatment options. Treatment may range from a course of antibiotics for infections to surgical intervention for long-term relief. Our goal is to provide effective, individualized care that ensures lasting comfort and improved quality of life.
